Rotary is comitted to strengthening our local community. Caring for those in need, as well as our environment and youth, is our way of equipping the next generation to lend their helping hands to tomorrow’s world.
Rotacare
There are still thousands of people in every state and community who do not have medical insurance. More often than not, folks in need of medical assistance put off the care they need, because they cannot pay. Rotary Clubs across the nation, include El Cerrito Rotary and many other Bay Area Rotary Clubs, support RotaCare, a chain non-profit medical clinics, where licensed medical doctors volunteer and provide free healthcare. In a very quiet way, Rotarians can lend a hand financially, and save lives every day.
Schools
One of the many ways the Rotary Club of El Cerrito builds support in our local schools is by providing reliable funding for musical instruments for music programs at both Karematsu middle School and El Cerrito High School. The reward of hearing one of the Bay Area’s premier high school wind ensemble’s and jazz bands is just icing on the cake!
The Rotary Club of El Cerrito is also excited to announce our pilot scholarship program, which will award secondary education graduates in El Cerrito with as much as $8,000.00 in funds for college education. Stay tuned for more details!
Environment
At the El Cerrito Rotary Club, we think most of the world believes that our planet is special, and deserves a lot of care. That is why we participate in reforestation of forests devastated by wildfire; it is why we participate in restoring habitat, and it is why we love to get together now and then and just pick up trash! It is fun to get together with friends, of course. But it is even better to do it with a purpose!
