El Cerrito Rotary: The Wheel June 17, 2010

President Elect Karen welcomed everyone to the friendly El Cerrito Rotary Club. Alan led the flag salute and Nobuko provided the thought for the day.

Secretary Joe: In John's absence, Joe introduced a few guests, among them Nancy McCarthy had as her guest the new investments representative at Mechanics Bank. Kathleen Hunt had her son Kyle with her. 

Announcements:

ð  Karen thanked the demotion dinner committee: Frank, Nancy, Steve, John, and Jane.

ð  Frank reminded us that great programs makes for great meetings and grows our membership. Its a crucial component of a strong club. He announced that he is the new Programs Director. Please start scheduling your speakers 3 months in advance and hand off complete info to him 2 months ahead. Captains have receive an email with complete information for scheduling speakers.

ð  Karen told everyone she has scheduled visioning session for our Club for Tuesday, July 13, 4:30-9 pm. Location TBA. This is a wonderful opportunity to create a 5 year plan for the Club. See Karen to sign up. 

Happy Dollars:  Kathleen is happy she can spend time with Kyle this week and that she’ll be learning Latin with Kyle. Kyle is happy he will be learning Latin next week.  Charlie is happy about his Xth High School Reunion that he attended last week.  He thanks Alan for taking such great photos and posting them on our Facebook Page.  (there were others but no one was taking notes...Karen regrets)

Sgt at Arms Nancy: Nancy had trivia about our own Club.  Funny and Interesting things about members that we don’t know.  Marty played saxophone. Tracy has a double sneeze. Karen lived in Barcelona for a year and sported a Mohawk for a month. Jane was an actor previously.  One member dated his wives girlfriend before he dated his wife and married her.  Don has married the same woman twice. Carl petted a Beluga Whale in the Hudson Bay once.

Today’s Lottery Winner:    Frank had his ticket drawn and drew the gold marble winning the pot.  At our next meeting the jackpot is $50.
