Today’s Program:

Jane introduced Danielle Sanchez  who was born and raised in Montreal, Canada and after 35 years left Montreal and moved to Berkeley in 1987.  Danielle gave everyone a very nice brochure which outlined the information she shared with us.  Essentially we learned about the history of Montreal and it’s settling and growth into the wonderful place it is today.  We learned about  the what happened during prohibition in the US and how Montreal benefited from that situation because the city is a place to have fun and was named the sin city at that time.  Montreal has an interesting time line for it historical events and how it became a province that established itself as a French speaking area.   All in All this was a wonderful presentation in which we learned about the culture, the shopping, the food, the places to go see and the beautiful churches.  I am very happy that  Danielle was kind enough to do this presentation for our club.

Thought for the Week:

God grant, that not only the Love of Liberty, but a thorough Knowledge of the Rights of Man, may pervade all the Nations of the Earth, so that a Philosopher may set his foot anywhere on its Surface, and say, "This is my Country."
