  • Nobuko announced the candy sale garnered $100 and she contributed a matching $100

  • Mark S reminded us the What If Foundation and the presentation we received earlier last year from the Exec Dir who lives in Albany.  This would be a good organization to contribute to during this time of need for the people in Haiti.  Mark passed out information to the club.  If you were not there you can go to http://whatiffoundation.org and find out how to make a donation.

Happy dollars:   Gary B is happy he heard from Cassarah Chu, last year’s Interact Club President with an update on what she is doing.  Mark S reported his daughter is back home after a stay in the hospital and seems to be doing a bit better.  Prayers for his daughter are in order.  Michael C is happy this is his wife’s birthday.  Jack is happy that Sil is present and assured everyone we will continue to see Sil at El Cerrito Rotary.  Leeza ask for prayers for her father who has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.  Nancy’s guest Jean is happy about her client that finally got a loan on her business.  Dick Davis is happy to have been able to give us an update on Glenn (so are we).  Tracy is $20 happy for Kathleen being a high quality Rotarian and bringing in a new Rotarian.  Tracy was Kathleen’s sponsor so she deserves to be happy about all of this.

Leeza with Birthdays and Anniversaries:   Today we celebrated December Birthdays for Lee, Rod and Nobuko.  Lots of fun and art education as a bonus..

Sgt at Arms Nancy:  Not on duty today

Today’s Program:

Don introduced Claudine Felbursch, a Wells Fargo Bank executive, to speak to us about the District 5150 Camp Enterprise program.

Claudine Felbusch

Claudine provided us with a comprehensive handout which complimented her presentation and gave us some visual understanding of this wonderful camp.  The purpose of the camp is to provide an environment where young people (10, 11, 12th grade students) have an opportunity learn how to work with strangers, build a team, prepare a business plan outline and learn the power of teamwork as a resource.  We were taken on a walk through of the three day camp and the topics addressed.  This camp is very similar to the Camp Venture program we have in District 5160.

Camp Enterprise wants more participants which is why they are expanding their recruiting area to include West County.  Last year there were several students from JFK and El Cerrito High.    It is great to learn about another RYLA that is available to our young people.  Thanks to Claudine for providing a information about Camp Enterprise.

Today’s Lottery Winner:  Nobuko had her ticket drawn and pulled a catseye marble winning the bottle of wine.   Next meeting the pot is $155.
