The WheelEditors: Gary Buffon & John Fergerson Jr. Week of July 16th President Elect Karen welcomed everyone to the Friendly El Cerrito Rotary Club. Mike G led the flag salute and Gary B had the thought for the day. Introduction of guests and Visiting Rotarians: Announcements: ð Jack announced sign-ups are being done for the four GGFs work dates in Aug, Sep, Oct and Nov. ð Jack announced that the club polo shirts will be given to members at the meeting on July 30. A good reason to be there! ð Nobuko shared with the club the story of her dog and the cancer she is battling. Be sure and say a prayer for Nobuko and her dog to give both of them strength. Happy dollars: Jane is happy she was selected for the Richmond Convention and Visitors Bureau board. Mike G is happy for his fishing trip and an adventure of getting lost and then being not lost. John F is happy about his wonderful honeymoon. Jack is happy for the John F’s successful honeymoon and also for the work that Mark F did cooking for Ksusha’s party. Mark S is happy about the great party and wonderful Hosts Jack and Carole were for Ksusha’s party. Marty is happy for Ksusha’s party and for Lee being a great Vet in taking care of the dog Marty adopted. Michael C is happy about having Dinner with Lee and the Vet that is working with Nobuko in treating her dog for cancer. Sgt at Arms: Not on duty today. . Today’s Program: Karen introduced Dr. Linda Berry to speak to us today. Dr. Linda is a Chiropractor and Nutritionist as well as an author. Dr. These three areas include: ð Water – the bottom line being we need to hydrate our bodies inside to make things work well and to cleanse our organs and systems. ð Exercise - doing this regularly is essential to good health as it strengthens our muscles, tissues and bones. Women when they get older are especially prone to brittle bones and weight barring exercise helps to overcome this issue. It is recommended that adults get a minimum of 30 minutes exercise per day for at least three days a week. It is important to get both aerobic and weight baring exercise to remain in top physical and mental health. ð Inner Smile: Smiling with our whole face actually produces hormones that are beneficial. In fact, it helps keep our immune system in balance. You can use a “spiritual” smile as a way to reduce the angst we have about troublesome issues in our lives. If someone or something has caused you to become stressed, visualize a meaning visualization that will move that issue into a position where you feel in control. There is research that shows that cancer patience who visualize their cancer being battled by their bodies (as well as the chemo or radiation) actually have great success rates that those who do not use visualization. Dr. Linda Berry – Chiropractor and Nutritionist At the end of the presentation Dr. Linda drew a card from the business cards collected from Rotarians. Gary B was the lucky winner and chose to have Dr. Linda’s book. A very interesting book on nutritional issues. The book’s title is “Internal Cleansing, Rid your body of toxins to naturally and effective fight disease.” Today’s Lottery Winner: Gary B had his ticket pulled and drew the winning marble winning the $240 pot – Thought for Week: “ We are the carriers of health and disease--either the divine health of courage and nobility or the demonic diseases of hate and anxiety. --Joshua Loth Liebman
