President Jack welcomed us to the friendly El Cerrito Rotary Club.  Rod led us in the Pledge of Allegiance, and then President Jack gave us the thought for the day.

Introduction of guests and Visiting Rotarians:  Today Jack brought along Sonya Gibbons-Thomas and Kathleen introduced us to Randy Vogel.

Announcements:

ð  Don, Joe, and their wives brought in a season high in GGF tips ($129) last Sunday!

ð  Ksusha’s July 14 BBQ will be catered by Mark Figone.

ð  The EC High School Band will be having a concert on June 3rd at 7:30, at which they will be presented their new band instruments.  RSVP to Jack if you will be attending.

ð  Don’t forget to sign up for your EC Rotary polo shirts. Jack needs your sizes.

Happy dollars:  Rod collected happy dollars today.  Jane was happy to be home from Hawaii, where she had a great trip.  She also was happy for Joe and Marsha for winning Small Business of the Year in the El Cerrito Chamber of Commerce.  Kathleen was happy for the new clients sent to her by Charlie.  She was also happy to have Randy joining her at the club.  Lee told us about his upcoming presentation next week on the Rotary Foundation.  Bring your checkbooks next week!  Jack passed around a funny picture regarding Lee’s profession.  Funny indeed.  Charlie was very happy about his new clients, referred by Kathleen.

Sgt at Arms:  The Sgt. at Arms was on duty today and money hungry…  Fun was had by all during his word association game. Nice job Sarge!

Today’s Program:

John F. introduced today’s speaker Heather Rogers who joined us to speak about inspiring our creativity, while performing a tremendous magic act.  Heather used the acronym P.A.C.E. which stands for Presence, Acceptance, Connection, and Expression.

She began her act by folding a dollar bill and suspending it between her hands.  It was quite impressive.  As were her newspaper trick (where she ripped a newspaper many times, only to put it back together) and her handkerchief trick (where she pulled a handkerchief out of Karen’s sleeve without her knowing at all).

Heather shared with us that her belief is that one great key to finding your real expression is to commit to writing for at least 15 minutes a day.  She says you can write about anything you like; “just get your thoughts down on paper.”  She calls it, “igniting the spark of your creativity.”

Her finale trick involved two of our fellow Rotarians, Jack and Lee.  Heather said that her dream has always been to perform in Las Vegas with the Blue Man Group backing her up.  Well…  That’s where Jack and Lee came in.

A great time was had by all, thanks to Heather’s great job!

Daryoosh Khalilollahi CFP will join us next week to discuss “Financial Self Defense.”

Today’s Lottery Winner: Jim Spain went home with the Genie Stone.  Kathleen was the lottery winner and drew a cats eye marble. Next week the jackpot will be $215

Thought for Week:  "The problems of the world cannot possibly be solved by skeptics or
cynics whose horizons are limited by the obvious realities. We need men (and women!)
who can dream of things that never were."
