President Jack welcomed us to the friendly El Cerrito Rotary Club. Kanti led the pledge and Jack gave us a thought for the day.
Introduction of guests and Visiting Rotarians: Interact Board members Janet Genser, Alisha Manandhar, Rebecca Phoung and Luke Twombly were introduced by Gary B. Jeff Abbott was Mark Scott’s guest and Andy introduced son’s William and Harry. John F introduced his fiancé Laurie Miller. Thanks for bring Laurie to Rotary John!
Announcements:
ð Saturday Potluck. The address is 747 Gelston Place in El Cerrito. Mike’s phone # is 719-3456. Come to the potluck and have fun with your fellow Rotarians at a Rotarian’s home.
ð Karen reminded us of the club roster update and the need to review your data so it will be correct in the new club roster coming out in June.
ð Jack reported on the success of the District Conference.
Happy dollars: Rod is happy that Mark’s wife Cindi has agreed to cover for Rod at GGF this Sunday. Marty is happy about his new dog. Paul is happy to have a new nephew. Nobuko had $10 and told the saga of dilemma of having GGF duty on Easter and the positive outcome, thanks to Don. Carl had $10 thank you for Marty to covered for him at GGF. Mark S is happy about his son being enrolled at UCB. John F is happy for Laurie being in Cal and also for Nancy’s help with banking. Jack is happy about Jim covering for him last week. Nancy is happy her daughter was able to work with her at GGF.
Sgt at Arms: Jim was at his post and continued the memory game (that we all forgot) from a couple of weeks ago. He did his usually entertaining job and collected more funds for the club.
New Member Induction:
Jack introduced Keith Wilson for the last time as a visitor and carried out the induction of him as a new member. Although Keith lives in SF his folks live in EC. Welcome Keith to the friendly El Cerrito Rotary Club. We all hope you find your membership enriching, enjoyable and stimulating. Choose the Rotary area you support and have a lot of fun helping others!!

Today’s Program:
Our own Gary B was introduced by Jack to present a short history of the ECHS Interact club and to acknowledge the support of our Interact Club.

The club started in 2001 and has had a lot of success in community service, helping Rotarians with fund raising and doing their own fundraising for worthy causes. After the review of the information Gary shared, he took questions and comments from the Rotarians. Nobuko made sure that everyone knows that Joe Conwill, and Jack Freethy are the others who fund the book scholarships. In addition, Gary thanked the Rotarians for all the support they provide for the Interact club members and for the activities. This year we want to make sure we are able to identify and target the things that will help the Interact club grow.
Today’s Lottery Winner: Kanti had his ticket pulled for a chance at winning the pot and selected a cats-eye marble winning the bottle of wine. Next Week the jackpot is worth $185.
Interact Club Corner by Gary Buffon – Rotary Advisor to Interact:
The club is getting it 2009-10 officers in place along with the board. We will be holding the induction ceremony in May at our club.
