Today’s Program:
President Jack introduced Joe Semiele and Kate Colbertson to speak to us today about the upcoming production at the Contra Costa Civic Theatre (CCCT).
Kate, the Artistic Director, spoke to us first and shared the information about how they choose the productions and her excitement about the current product Nine. It was most interesting to learn a bit about the workings of the theatre and how the sequence goes from planning the production up to the week before opening. Kate also shared how the CCCT mission of providing new material is carried out and the Nine production is a great example of their actions.
Joe Simiele, musical director, then explained the process of cast selection and how they put together this musical performance. Joe explained just what a great community goes into the CCCT. There are a great deal of people contribute time and money to the success of the CCCT. We also heard about the wonderful cast of this production along with some of the great story line and singing. This sounds like a wonderful musical that we could all enjoy. The CCCT operates on Friday and Saturday evenings and a Sunday matinee. You can get tickets on line at www.ccct.org or you can call 510-524-9132. Thanks to Tracy for bringing this program to our club.
Today’s Lottery Winner: Sil had his ticket pulled for a chance at winning the pot and selected a red marble; getting him $10 and the Valentine’s candy. Next Week the pot is worth $145. Sgt at Arms Jim was the lucky winner of the tickets to the Nine performance at the CCCT. Enjoy the performance Jim.
Interact Corner by Gary Buffon – Rotary Advisor to Interact:
The Interact club is currently recruiting the Intern Board members for 2009-2010. These are the new leaders that will take over the club next year and continue to grow it in both quality and quantity.
Thought for Week:
I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.
