Announcements:
  • Mark S gave us an update on the Golden Gate Fields fund raising project
  • President Jack announced that April 25th has been designated as Club Work Day.  Our club will choose a project to work on that day.  Put it in your calendar.
  • President Jack suggested we start lunch promptly at 12:30 or even consider getting our lunch when we come in similar to how the Berkeley does so we don’t run out of time for our meeting.  If you have suggestions please tell Pres Jack.

Happy dollars:
Jane is happy to announce the annual Richmond Chamber of Commerce crab feed.  Gary B is happy that 40 people signed up for his next Hunter Education Class at the Richmond Rod and Gun Club.  Mike G is happy that Rotarian Lee overcame a serious medical challenge and is now ok.  Nobuko is happy about her eye surgery and that her daughter will be giving birth to twins in a few days.  Thom had a happy/sad dollar because his Bishop has been promoted to Detroit and Thom is going to miss him but is looking forward to a new boss.  Jack had $5 to announce he saw Alan Liu who is recently married.  Congratulations Alan and have a wonderful life with your beautiful wife.

Sgt at Arms:  Not on duty today

Today’s Program:
Gary B introduced today’s speakers Cassarah Chu, President of the ECHS Interact Club and Alisha Manandhar, Vice President of the ECHS Interact Club.  The subject of their presentation was a summary of their experience of District 5160’s RYAL Camp Royal.  The two young women gave us a tag team presentation by telling us about specific aspects of the camp and what the experience meant and taught them.  Examples of things we heard about included:
  • Living outside the box
  • Living outside your comfort zone
  • Rope course and wall climbing which taught trusting others with your well being
  • Flying Squirrel activity
  • Creating friendships with peers that will last for years to come
This was an excellent presentation and helped Rotarians appreciate the value of Camp Royal and the quality of members our Interact Club has.
At the end of the Camp Royal presentation Alisha told us about her trip to Nepal where she attended a Rotary meeting visited the eye clinic which is the target of our Rotary Grant to purchase eye surgery equipment for the pediatric department of the clinic.  We were able to ask Alisha about her visit giving us an opportunity share in the joy of her experience.

Thanks to Cassarah and Alisa for their presentation!!
